Just listened to a long interview by the “Human Face of Google”, Matt Cutts. I’ll give you the link to the podcast in a minute but I’ll give you a short version so you can decide whether to download and listen for yourself.

Everybody wants lots of visitors to their web site. Whether you are selling a product, building a list or publishing your articles on a site with Adsense, you want as many visitors as possible.

We say in I.M. that we want “traffic”, what we mean is people!

We also want to do this without paying for it! And that firstname is what SEO is all about. Ask people if they want to know about SEO and they stare balnkly at you.

I know, I’ve tried!

But ask them if they want free traffic and the answer is a resounding YES!!!

Why the disconnect between SEO and the reputation of SEO? Maybe it is that some SEOs are trying to make SEO mysterious so they can sell their services to you.

FACT is that SEO or “search engine optimisation / optimization” is simple.

And WordPress makes it even simpler. Listen to Matt Cutts giving you the real insider’s view – not the fake “insider” view of IM sales people trying to sell you crap, but the actual way Google works.
