We come online to make a difference. It might be that we want to transform life for ourselves and our family and be self employed or perhaps we want to get the word out on something we are passionate about.
So we start to learn about the internet and find out that there is SO much to learn! There’s affiliate marketing and blogging and Pay per Click and membership sites and…
…I could go on here!
You know how confusing this soon gets. This is not just confusing and overwhelming but is also seriously discouraging.
We just want to know what to do and who to believe!
You may know that I used to be a college teacher and that Kathy my business partner was a Marketing expert and coach. What I’m driving here at is that helping people get clear and helping people achieve their business goals is what we do.
Unlike other marketers who have a background of sales, our background is in training and education.
Let me put it bluntly – who are you going to believe – a salesman or your coach?
So now let us lay down the simple clear facts about making money online.
Recently I was visiting a friend and catching up with a year or two of gossip with him. We were standing in his health food shop and all the time we were talking there was a steady flow of customers into the shop. Nearly everybody bought something with little or no effort from my friend.
Those people were “sold” already – he did no selling. He did answer a few questions, he did not try to persuade or pressure anyone.
He was making money by standing in his shop chatting to me.
I learned a lot from that visit – I learned what real business is about and real sales too.
Let’s draw some points out here
1. making money can be very very easy – my friend was standing about simply taking the customers money, OK?
2. before you can make money easily you have some work to do. My friend had to find out what to sell and make all the arrangements to do it
3. the easiest person to sell to is someone who has bought stuff from you already – a repeat customer, someone who comes in with the empty container and say “Gimme another one!”
That’s all we need to take from my gossip session.
Making money is easy – all you have to do is sell something to someone who wants to buy it.
Online this is the same – but easier. It is easier because we can sell (connect someone who wants something with what they want) just by having a website or blog rather than going through the hassle of a shop.
This is WAY easier! You might ask how to build or buy a website but it’s easier by far than buying or building a shop. OK?
So far we’ve touched on the fact that you have to find out what people want to buy – market research – and you have to arrange somewhere they can buy it – some website or blog and now we come to the most important part of all.
PEOPLE.
The good thing about being in a shop is that people can just show up and wander in and – yes – buy!
You might be wondering how to make that happen online
Fact is – you have to MAKE it happen. You may have the best website or blog on the planet but if you don’t take action to bring your website and your stuff to the attention of people who are looking for it – you will not sell anything.
This is not hard but it is something that you have to do – you have to actively build links between your website and the places where your customers are.
All the people you want to come to your website are somewhere on the Net already and what you have to do is go there and start to get to know them.
This is just a process you follow it is not hard – honest!
One by one you get people to visit your website. One by one you get them to subscribe to your newsletter on health foods – for example. /and as you email them week by week you will see that you will start to get sales from the people who are on your email list.
You will sell much more to your email people than you ever will to casual visitors to your website.
You can see that with a bigger email list you will make more money.
And now you will understand why all the experts on the Internet concentrate on building their email lists.
It does not matter whether you are into eBay or affiliate marketing or product creation or blogging or Google Adwords – the easiest way to create a secure online business is to focus on your email list.
